FF: I know

PC:  J Hardy Carroll
I have heard so many stories.
I have heard good and bad news. I have heard new lovers, fights, break-ups.
I have heard threats, laughter, tears, fear, ecstasy.
I have heard sorry’s, I love you’s, I miss you’s, come soon’s
I have heard all of them.

Now, I hear nothing.
Now, I am lonely.
I have been replaced by cellphones.

I am…….the old dial telephone

  5. Actually, looks more like it had buttons than a dial, but the same idea. Landlines have largely been replaced by cells. The missus and I got rid of ours a year or so back.

Those old phones could certainly tell stories, couldn't they? Nicely done.

  11. That really rocked, Mrs. D. So poetic and at a time when we're starting to remember these things as they used to be everyday occurrences. Well done!

  15. At least the dial phone dial phone did not intrude in our lives as the cellular does. I am sure cells will soon be replaced with more intrusive devices .... telepathic communication. Nice write.

  19. A novel take on the prompt. You will have to tell that old payphone that some people think retro equals cool, which makes him a collectible!
