WPS: RIP

Edmund Pettus Bridge, Selma, AL | Google Maps

That dreadful night, when the tiny town was sleeping, one family was frantically looking out for their 24-year-old son. His phone was switched off. He suddenly one evening started proclaiming his love for Satan and stayed locked in his room all day. He was taking medication for depression after many sessions with the doctor. He seemed to be getting back to normal.

He said he is going out for a stroll, and did not return until very late. After, hours of searching, the day broke, clear skies and the sunrise woke the tiny town to a gruesome truth, that occurred last night.
The words in the local newspaper read, “24 year old youth, killed an infant and a pregnant woman, screaming the name of Satan and jumped off the bridge calling it the ultimate sacrifice”

WPS: Ghost Town

Zhao came here as a tourist, but this place, it haunted him. He has dreamt about this place so many times and always woke up sweating. He felt as if he has been here before, he knew the place where an old man used to sell tea. The window above had rose trellis, and Mrs. Ping used to bake bao there. Deja Vu!

Songxicun, China | Gao Shian, Google Maps
How did he know that? According to people, this city was burnt down to ashes  80 years ago. Later, they found out that one man was murdered here while the whole city was away in the New Year Carnival.

While, walking down the street a  very old woman, saw him and gave out a wail. She held Zhao's hand and said "Oh my God! Yansing, I am so happy, my prayers are answered, you are back"
Zhao stood there confused, the old lady brought out a picture from her purse, it was a black and white photo of a man, who looked exactly like Zhao, it was the picture of the man who was murdered in this town. Zhao was shocked, surprised, lot of mixed emotions.

The old lady looked straight into Zhao's eyes and said "Do you believe in rebirths?" She gave him a knowing smile and a piece of paper and suddenly vanished into thin air.

Zhao stood in the middle of this ghost town and fainted when he opened the little paper in his hand.

APM: How I write my poems

I am not really a poem writer
But sometimes, I want to challenge my inner fighter
I take up a topic, and open my computer
Then, I stare at the screen till there is a tiny trigger
I have an obsession for every other line to rhyme
So, I rack my head for all the rhyming words I have learnt in my time
I write, I delete, I write, I re-read
I have to read a hundred times before I proceed
I have to really be convinced of my poem
And also its rhyme
Finally, I publish it with a feeling of triumph
That's how I write my little poems

APM: Mirror

I have been a lousy blogger all year last year. I haven't written as mush as i hoped to, but this new year I hope to change it.
So, I have signed up for a weekly poem prompt, hopefully by the end of this year I hope to have at least 100 poems in my kitty.

Prompt of the week: "Your mirror writes a poem for you. What does it say?"

I long to see you every morning

Those eyes so deep, that look, it seeps into me while you wear that kohl
How they blink while you wear that tiny bindi on your forehead

That lips that pout while u try on different colors on it
Out of all my favorite shade on you is red

When those matching earrings dangle in each ear
Every time a smile in my heart does spread

Every night while you comb that long black hair
You look so pretty, but prettier with that bed-head

When you aren't around
I feel so empty and dead

I am in love
For my sole existence is YOU

FFAW: Drunk Pirate

PC
I was looking for him all over the house, but he was nowhere to be found. I hate that he goes AWOL on me whenever we are out holidaying.

I yell at my son “Omi, where is your father?”
“I saw him drinking beer by the beach an hour back,” Omi yelled back, still stuck to his cellphone.

I was muttering curses under my breath and what I see from my window?

My husband is standing on a stationery boat and screaming “Aargh! Aargh! I am Jack Sparrow”

That is it, all the alcohol is my house is going in the drains tonight

WPS: Zack still lives here

 Dubrovnik, Croatia
Zack had lived a hard life from the time he was born. A drunk abusive father, a subdued mother who couldn’t protect him or herself. Every day, he has heard a lot of screaming, beating, crying and many cuss words in his house.

Zack used to cry himself to sleep for so many nights, until his discovered this place. This became Zack’s happy place. He used to sit on this skirting for hours gazing at the sea and its colors, the houses nearby, the ships and at night the stars.

One night, Zack had enough of his father’s torture; he came here, smiled at the sky and leapt from his happy place with a smile on his face.

Now, every night, many people have claimed to have seen Zack sitting here alone smiling.

SWG: Heartbreak

THIS WEEK'S WORDS come from "The New Year" by Jason Shinder: bottom, breath, blue, dressed, drowning, discovered, match, mirror, mine, losing, love, lap

They discovered a few things from a ship that sunk into the deep bottom of the Arabian sae 38 years ago.
She is 88 now and they showed her that old ornate mirror, with a
She said with a lump in her throat "yes, that's mine"
That mirror had so many memories etched in it.

It has the memory of that fateful night.
On the wrenched ship, That little match and there was fire all over.
She was dressed for her ball, the day she fell in love.
The ship slowly sunk in the deep blue sea
Amoungst the drowing people, admidst the fire, he said he had loved her.
That day, he breath the last, on her lap
The pain of losing the only man she ever loved stayed with her for life.

SWG: What true love does

Its my first time at Sunday Whirlgig, and this time I got 12 words  by one of my favorite bloggers Old Egg
The words are

glances, hazel, cheek, pouts, small, spirit, limp, months, letting, softens, tight, scar

That accident injured her so bad and left her to limp all her life.
That accident left a scar not just on her body but on her soul too
The man she loved left her within months of that accident
She held her heart tight, promising herself that she is never letting anyone break it ever again.

PC: indiandramaqueen.blogspot.com
Then came a handsome man
He fell in love with this small looking girl with hazel eyes
She cute cheeks and curved lips that pouts

In the church, he stole glances at her
She saw him and something fluttered inside her
Her heart softens and her spirits rose

Somewhere she heard a whisper, this is what true love does. It heals

FFPP: Today I shall be free

mirror
https://pixabay.com/en/hand-spirit-dark-world-gateway-316639/
I had been waiting to hear those words my entire life…said the ghost of Adira who has been trapped in this mirror by that damned curse.

"The day a married virgin in white,
when the sun shall shine bright,
When those eyes of color blue shall look into you
That is the day out of this mirror you shall come through"

Today, this "just married" blue-eyed bride, is here to set me free. Her body, I shall use for the things, I only wished.

Today is the day, when 2400 year old Adira, will be 24 again.

Mag: Clueless Teen

They say in story books that, the princess kissed a frog and he turned into the prince.

I was hoping to find my prince too, so  I kissed every animal and bird I found in my back yard.

I kissed this crow, and Poof she transformed into a clueless teen.

My Bad!

Mag: For Happiness of Others

PC: David Ligare
The loaf is sad that it was cut

The fruit it sad that it was pulped

Yet, two sad hearts stand together

To spread happiness to kids, who haven't had good food for almost a year

Mag: The Golden Girl

I go to this park where people play chess.
I stand at every table and request them to let me play
No one let me play though
Little do they know what they have missed by not playing with me
They take an hour to make a move, which is at times wrong and silly too
How can I, a little girl tell?
I am the youngest chess champ, the child prodigy.
I am the "Golden Girl" in the chess world

ABCW & Mag: Letter

In this age when people live on emails
I prefer the snail mails

I love the feel of the handmade paper
I love to think the look in his eyes when he opens the letter

I wonder, if the perfume on the letter shall remind you of me
In this letter, I have let me heart run free

I have put in that dried rose on top
Thinking of that day, I wish time would just stop

Hope you read it and reply
Its hard and after all this years again, I don't want to say Goodbye

Mag: Accept Me for what I am

PC: Stanley Spencer
I agree I am huge, but I don't get why people see me as a threat

One look at me and every one goes "ahh, run, a huge ugly beast looking man"

They judge me before they even know me.

Thank you flowers, Thank you nature of accepting me they way I am.

God says "Someday, my dear, there is someone who will accept you the way you are. All you need is patience"

Mag: I shall wait

PC: Carolina Knopf
When I married him I knew he would be out at the seas
When he is out there, I have no peace

I love him for what he is
I promised him to take care of what is his

I shall wait till end of life
For he is my fate and I am his wife

My heart, misses him everyday
So, I come here to see every morning and evening, if his ship is coming in today

Mag: Chennai Rains

PC: Adolphe Valette
In this city, it rained like never before
In this city, where sunshine turns people sore

Flooding is not just the city
But the houses too, Oh What a pity?

Its not just the skies that opened
But, the hearts and doors of houses too

A foe turned friend
Helping hands became the trend

Roads turned into canals
Places where cabs & rickshaws moved, now was replaced by boats

Rescued were people from their houses
They saw their belongings drenched & afloat

When people in this city were out of food
The whole country came together to do some good

After 12 days of ordeal
Chennai, saw the strength of no biggies but just its people

This post is a dedication to the rains that happened in Chennai in December.
Pray to all

Mag: Its Talent & Tech

The power of photography and technology amazes me.
This picture might look ghostly, spooky, even disillusioned.

But in real, its a 7 year old in pale pink frock going round and round.

The camera is placed on a tripod in front of her, capturing in a very low shutter speed, similar to light photography.

And a little editing here and there, changing the colors into black and white & TaaDaa, we have a complete different image to present to the world.
PC: My husband Ashwin Kumar. This is light photography.Look closely and you can see a faint outline of a man standing. That is my father.

Mag: Mirror on the wall

Last evening when I saw this mirror I saw a confident girl
A few hours back I was a happy girl, so sure of myself.

I met this guy, exchanged numbers and in two days he proposed loved to me
He looked so genuine & sincere with his puppy brown eyes

Little did I expect this from him
Now, I see this girl in the mirror, I see this ravaged girl
Dark tear stained koel dripping eyes, messed up hair, violated body

A date, some love, some friends is what I asked for
A party, my boyfriends, his friends and a spiked drink is what I got
I remember the drink, I remember music & I woke up on someone else bed raped, bruised & devastated

Mirror, Mirror on the wall, please reverse them all
Dear Mirror, Mirror on the wall, show the girl I saw before the dreaded call

Mag: Last kiss

Dear Long Gone Boy,

Our last kiss was more nervous and memorable than our first.
It keeps replaying in my mind again and again.

Hope you remember that small pixie like girl whom you left alone in the middle of the road
